As I lay in my bed last night watching the glamour that is the (many) Inaugural Balls, I couldn't help but notice how truly down to earth and "real" the Obamas seemed to be. It cracked me up when they finished dancing to the famous Etta James' "At Last" at the Youth Ball, Obama and his wife Michelle stood side-by-side and Obama said, "That is what you call Old-School!" ha ha! I couldn't help but to laugh out loud at that comment. oh, and Michelle looked FABULOUS in her one-of-a-kind ivory gown! It was gorgeous!
I also couldn't help but to imagine their first night as a family in their new home on Pennsylvania Ave. I was thinking if I were Michelle, and my husband was just sworn in as the new leader of the free world and we went to several balls and danced the night away and talked to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and met tons of celebs, how turned on I would be knowing how powerful my man has just become in the matter of 24 hours! ;o) Don't you know there was some kind of hanky panky going on in the White House last night! Now, I know, some of you are thinking, "GROSS!" ...but seriously, all you married women, think about it!! You're kids are in the opposite end of your home playing with their friends they invited over to watch movies and eat popcorn and you and your new "commander-in-chief" hubby are in the complete other end of the house....what would you be doing!!??... I think about that more now about our new President, than ever before, I guess, because they are a fairly young couple and because they seem so "real" as I said before. They seem like regular people who poop, throw-up and boogy down in front of millions of people at a ball that was thrown in honor of themselves! Pretty awesome if you ask me.
At any rate, I just want to say, Congratulations to President Obama and his First Lady, Michelle as well as their two charming girls. Even though this isn't what I voted for, it's time to drop the bitterness and resentment to everyone who did vote for him and MOVE ON! There is nothing we can do now to change who he is. So, now is the time to have faith, pray, and know that he will guide this country where we need to be! Go Obama go. Today is the 1st day of a new world...EMBRACE it! and get ready, because I have a feeling things are about to become different.
