Seriously?...

It literally took me about 15 minutes to come up with a clever name for this blog...not the heading at the top (see: [single]Mom's the Word.) but the ____.blogspot.com part. I am a tid bit embarrassed by this fact. ha! Case sir rah (or something like that) I suppose...

You may recognize me from my old blog, which nobody really visited much, I don't think? I got rid of that e-mail and (I guess) forgot my password to log on to that blog and delete it. any who...I am here not with a *NEW & IMPROVED* blog!

*Clears throat and stands up straight*

I am the mother of a NICU baby.
Reagan was born on August 13 with Meconium Aspiration Syndrome. (see full story here) She came home on October 21, 2008 and is doing wonderfully! We go back to Children's Hospital every now and then for check-ups. She will go back sometime in March for her neurology check-up. (She developed seizures due to a bleed in her head while in Children's Hospital) Other than that she is healthy and developing on time. She officially rolled over to her belly on January 3rd and recently has begun to blow rasberries at her mommy and anyone who will pay her attention, which basically is EVERYBODY/ANYBODY who is around her! :o) I couldn't be prouder! She LOVES Sweet Potatoes, Squash, and Green Beans! I have given her some fruits but mostly vegetables. Hopefully this will make her like veggies as she grows! I'm such a trickster! She is the light of my life and the joy of my days! I have learned and still learning to be "joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer". God has done some MIGHTY works in not only Reagan's life, but mine! I always hear from my family, friends, and the occassional stranger how strong I have been through everything! All I can tell them is "It's God, not me!" Looking back at my sleepless nights and sometimes days in Birmingham at Children's Hospital, it amazes me of how strong I was. I can remeber the joy that flooded my heart the day the discharge nurse came in Reagan's room and asked me if I "wanted to take her home today" !! It brings tears, smiles, and shivers as I contemplate on that hardship my family and I went through those 2.5 months that seemed like ETERNITY!

Now I get to watch my sweet miracle baby girl roll over, blow rasberries and begin to, what a proud mommy would call, giggle! :o) She is purely AMAZING!

Stay tuned for daily posts! (or atleast every other day.)

Thanks for the comment on the NICU post. I can't tell you how much it means to me to meet other moms that "get it". I also feel a connection with you and your little one and I hope we can be buddies!
